One of the highlights of Maths Week in Mr. Russell's 5th Class was the Money Challenge! The idea behind the Money Challenge is to see how Maths is all around us. The challenge was great fun and a good test of the class' skills with using money. Each group was given a toy store catalogue. They were given different scenarios:
Buy three toys, spending no more than €50
Buy one toy from the "boys section", one toy from the "girls section", and one toy from either section, spending no more than €50
Buy five toys, spending no less than €45 and no more than €50
Buy one toy from the "boys section", one toy from the "girls section", one toy from either section, and one electronic game, spending less than €100, but having no more than €5 change
The boys in 5th Class really enjoyed the challenge and had great fun practicing their Maths skills and using the catalogues to spend money. Check out the photos below from the Maths Week Money Challenge!
