Mr. Russell's 5th Class visited Garter Lane Arts Centre on Friday, January 18th, 2019, to see the exhibition "Plastics: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly". Pupils in the Presentation Primary and Secondary schools had created artistic pieces to highlight the way plastic is misused and dumped in the world today.

One display had fish made from litter bags for dog droppings, which are not recyclable, while another display showed some of the single use plastics that are found in the oceans. There was an information screen, with facts about plastics, and other pieces showing unwanted toys and bottle caps, which were used to make art. Otherwise, these might have ended up in the oceans. Another area contained letters that the pupils had written to their future grandchildren about plastics and looking after the earth. The boys had to solve a crossword on the day, and imagine what the world will be like in 100 years. Everyone enjoyed the exhibition and it gave the boys plenty to think about in terms of plastic use.

Thanks to Sandra in Garter Lane for the invitation, and to Cordula from Calmast, who kindly agreed to be interviewed on the day. Check out the photos in the gallery below from the boys' visit to Garter Lane!
