Miss Byrne's 4th Class enjoyed a tour of the magnificent House of Waterford Crystal showrooms and factory in December 2019. The process of glass making was described to the boys during the tour. The class saw how wooden moulds were made to shape the molten glass, and saw a craftsman blowing the glass and shaping it into the wooden mould. The boys inspected the wheels used to cut the glass and learned that there were diamonds in the wheels to help shape and polish the glass! Finally, the boys got to see some of the beautiful glass trophies and special pieces made in the factory which are then sent all around the world! Everyone in Miss Byrne's 4th Class enjoyed the tour, and there are some photos to view in the gallery below!
