Mr. Russell's 5th Class were learning about famous artist Vincent Van Gogh. They learned a little about his life, and how he died. The class listened to the Don MacClean song "Vincent", written about Van Gogh and how misunderstood he was while he was alive. The boys also looked at many different works from Van Gogh, such as Starry Night, Shoes, Self Portrait, White House at Night, The Potato Eaters and Sunflowers. The class decided to pick two of Van Gogh's most famous paintings, and made their own artistic interpretations of these famous masterpieces. Indeed, the versions made by the boys are masterpieces too! Have a look at the terrific drawings of Van Gogh's "Sunflowers" and "Starry Night" in the gallery below:
