St. Stephen's entered two teams in the national FAI Schools 5-
The B team performed very well, playing really well and recording some great results.
The first game saw the team win 4-
Their final game on the day saw the squad record a fantastic win against a battling Mount Sion team, with some really excellent goals scored by both teams.
Unfortunately, the boys missed out on qualification. Hard luck lads!
The A team put in some stunning performances too!
The first game saw the team run out winners against a Ferrybank team who made it very difficult to find any time or space during the game. The second game was a real battle between ourselves and St. Declan's. But our team held firm and recorded a thrilling win, with some wonder goals. The highlight of the goals was a belter from Jack, right into the top corner!
The A team's final game on the day saw the squad record a hard fought win against a very good Mount Sion team, with some lapses in concentration costing us some silly goals. Thankfully, we were able to recover and win the game.
That meant that the A team won all 3 games, topped the group, and qualified for the Waterford Section C County Finals. Congratulations, and well done boys!
Our boys all represented our school so well on the day and we're proud of them all. We wish the remaining team the very best of luck in the Waterford Finals. Maith sibh! Both squads are pictured on the right.
