We were awarded our second Green Flag, this time for energy, in May 2015, with a small ceremony in Kilkenny. We had a special gathering to mark the occasion in our school on Friday, June 19th, where we were joined in our celebrations by city Mayor, Lola O'Sullivan, Ella Ryan, Environmental Officer for Waterford Council, Billy Flynn from our Board of Management and Br. Tim, chairperson of the BoM.
Mr. Morris opened the celebrations by congratulating the entire school for the huge effort made to qualify for the flag, as well as thanking Mrs. Breen and the boys on the Green School Committee for their hard work in gaining the flag. Two boys spoke briefly about our school, before Mayor Lola O'Sullivan commended our school for the award of the flag and the great efforts that our school community always makes. Mrs. Breen thanked the Green Schools Committee, before Br. Tim talked about the special spirit in our school, and how hard everyone in St. Stephen's works for the benefit of our school. The celebrations concluded with the raising of the flag.
