We were learning about World War I and Remembrance Day, which was on November 11th. We learned about the poppy, and about how Remembrance Day remembers all who have been killed in all wars, regardless of their nationality.

As part of our learning, we were very lucky to arrange a Skype with Sarah Weldon, who lives on the island of Alderney. The island was occupied by the Germans during World War II and they built many bunkers along the coastline. Sarah took us around the bunkers and the trenches, and showed us what the inside looked like, and told us how the soldiers who operated the bunkers would have lived. We were able to ask lots of questions too! We were very lucky to get this Skype lesson from Sarah, and we all really enjoyed it!
