What a trip this was! On Wednesday, June 17th, Mr. Russell's and Mr. Fahy's 4th Classes joined up and travelled to Wexford for a day of history!
First, the classes made their way to Enniscorthy, where they visited the 1798 National Rebellion Centre. The classes split into their groups to take turns at the different activities: baking bread as it would have been done in the late 1700s/early 1800s, learning about and handling the weapons used in the 1798 Rising, such as muskets, bayonets, and of course, pikes; and a tour of the centre, to learn about how the United Irishmen came to organise the Rising in June 1798.
Then, it was on to Ferrycarraig, outside Wexford Town, to the Irish National Heritage Park, to learn about civilisation in Ireland from the Stone Age to the time of the Vikings.
It was a simply AWESOME day out for the boys, armed with a special hastag on Twitter -
