We had a great time celebrating World Book Day 2016 in St. Stephen's! All the festivities were planned to open up the benefits of reading to everyone - and everyone had a great time all week as every class celebrated books, reading and all that goes with it!

* Buddy Reading 5th Class and Junior Infants: Mr. Casey's 6th Class visited Mrs. Breen's Junior Infants to read them some stories for World Book Day!

* Buddy Reading in Action: See the 5th and 6th Class boys read some stories for the junior and senior infant classes in our terrific World Book Day video!

* Talking about Favourite Books: Mr. Russell's 5th Class brought in some of their favourite books for World Book Day 2016 - and recorded a podcast, talking about the books they brought in and why they liked them!

* Buddy Reading Mr. Russell's 5th Class and Senior Infants: Mr. Russell's 5th Class visited Miss Robinson's Senior Infants to talk about books and to read books and stories to the younger boys!

* Mrs. Breen's Class: Watch a slideshow as the boys in Junior Infants dressed up as their favourite book characters and brought in some books to read too!

*  Buddy Reading Miss Flynn's 5th Class and Senior Infants: Miss Flynn's 5th Class read books and stories to Miss Lowe's Senior Infants!

* Buddy Reading Slideshow: See a wonderful slideshow as the younger boys in our school had stories read to them by boys in the senior classes!

* Dressing up as a book character for the day, which took place in the Junior Classes. There were all sorts of wonderful costumes to be seen all around St. Stephen's for World Book Day! Darth Vader, Woody from Toy Story, Captain America, The Gruffalo, Kylo Ren, Batman, Superman, Harry Potter, Iron Man, Luke Skywalker - and loads, loads more!

* Sharing Favourite Reads: World Book Day 2016 was the perfect opportunity for the boys in Miss Flynn's 5th Class to bring in their favourite books and share some information about them with the rest of the class!

*  Shared Reading with the Parents' Association: The Parents' Association visited for World Book Day and read books to our 1st Class boys!

*  Buddy Reading 6th Class and Junior Infants: Mr. Keevers' 6th Class visited the younger boys to read to Miss Hickey's Junior Infants!

* Author Visit: Author Martin Brennan, who writes under the pseudonym Edward Crane, visited St. Stephen's to talk to the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Classes about the writing process, the life of an author - and how to make writing (and reading!) interesting!
